The "Quick Start" tab includes a brief discussion of why we exist, description of our proposed system and module concepts in story form, the latest news, and contact information.
EduFX was created to tackle the problem of turning our existing school system into a world-class education system. The two major obstacles we have identified are student motivation and the present system's inherent resistance to change. There are many reasons why students are not motivated, but the three most important are: boring study materials, poor pacing, and lack of relevance. There are also a number of reasons why the present system is very resistant to change. These include political, psychological, and organizational barriers. The political and psychological barriers need to be dealt with, but the most significant barrier is the structure of the education system itself. For change to occur now it must happen one teacher at a time. And yet, one teacher acting alone has very little ability to bring about change.
Our vision of a world-class education system includes three components: The schools, an industry that supplies educational materials, and an independent organization that specifies and certifies those educational materials. EduFX is that independent organization.
The key to this system is how the schools are organized. A network of modules would replace the existing classrooms and classes. Each module would contain all the materials needed to learn a specific part of some subject such as the first semester of Algebra I. This includes audiovisual material, self paced software that monitors student performance, structured and unstructured group activity materials, and teacher's guides. Students would start a module only when they're ready, normally after finishing an earlier module. They would not exit the module until they had demonstrated the desired level of performance. A more detailed example of what a module would look like will be found under the "stories" menu item and is called
"Peter and the algebra module."
The modules will be created and sold by for-profit companies according to published specifications. Using many of the technologies and concepts developed by the electronic game industry, the modules will engage the student. The modules will reduce teacher workload by the greatly reducing the requirements for lesson plans, lectures, testing, and correcting homework. This will allow the teacher to focus on being a mentor, facilitator and coach.
All modules will be field-tested and must prove to be effective before EduFX certifies them. The specifications will be published by EduFX, but will be developed by a team consisting of professional educators, area experts, and government standard specialists assembled by EduFX. The specifications will be cross-referenced to standards from each state.

"Approach"
tab. You will also find the original background paper which lead to the creation of EduFX in
