Cynthia Cirino Bio

Cynthia Cirino is an educator specializing in bilingual education and a passionate advocate of educational reform. She presently teaches fourth grade at the New Haven Unified School District, and previously taught at Ravenswood City School District in East Palo Alto, where she served as Vice President of the teachers' union.

When Ravenswood formed a partnership with Edison Schools, Cynthia served as Lead Teacher and was instrumental in the formation of the new school as well as the implementation of the company's educational philosophy. She also acted as curriculum leader for the reading and writing programs and as a mentor to new teachers.

Cynthia earned a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies from Holy Name College in Oakland, received special accreditation as a Language Development Specialist through the state of California, and is pursuing a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis on technology.
