Al Platt Bio

Al Platt is an accomplished director, manager and problem solver with a 20-year track record of successfully leading the development, funding and day-to-day operations of corporate and community programs. At present, Al is Executive Director of The Centre for Living with Dying, a nonprofit organization located in Santa Clara.

He previously served as Director of Development at the Mid-Peninsula Jewish Community Day School, where he raised over $6.5 million for a capital construction campaign to build the School's first campus; Executive Director for the Jewish Community Federation, where brought the annual campaign from $1 million to $3 million in less than five years; and Executive Director for several other nonprofit organizations.

As a teacher, Al worked with the famous Bruno Bettelheim at the Orthogenic School of the University of Chicago, and he served as both a teacher and therapist at the University and the Chicago Public School system. Al holds an MA with honors from the University of Chicago, a BA in Social Science from the University of Chicago, and a BEd from Chicago Teacher's College. He is a member of the National Society of Fundraising Executives.
