Chris Crawford Bio

Chris Crawford is an internationally recognized designer of popular and critically acclaimed computer games, an accomplished author and an effective and entertaining lecturer. Over the course of his career, he has designed and developed over a dozen titles, including innovative educational simulation games such as Balance of Power, Eastern Front and Balance of the Planet.

Chris has written several books on game design, authored and edited The Journal of Computer Game Design, and recently completed a book on interactivity design entitled Understanding Interactivity. Chris was the original founder and manager of the Computer Game Developers Conference, now in its 17th year of operation.

Early in his career, Chris taught physics at a Nebraska community college and energy policy issues to high school students at the UC Davis Extension program. He is currently developing a technology for interactive storytelling, featuring a development environment that is user-friendly to non-technical users, such as artists. Chris received an MS in Physics from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a BS in Physics from the University of California, Davis.
